Research groups
The Virtuhcon research approach will be fulfilled by three research groups concentrating on different fields of research relevant for the comprehensive simulation and virtualisation of high temperature conversion processes. The fields of research which need to be covered are “Reacting Flow Systems”, “Multi-phase Systems” and “Interphase Phenomena”.
The Reacting flow systems group will focus on flow behaviour taking into consideration reaction room dimensions and interactions including homogeneous chemical reactions. The group will define the global and local process conditions in the reaction room. Scientists of the group are responsible for the numerical simulation and virtualisation of the overall process.
Scientists of the multi-phase systems group will analyse the behaviour of the different forms of materials, their interactions and structural and physical or chemical changes during high temperature conversion processes (taking into account thermodynamics).
The interphase phenomena group will investigate the processes and mechanisms of phase boundaries and boundary layers of phase boundaries in fl uid flows. The main aspects are the mass and energy transport and process related changes of the phase boundary and the boundary layer.
